What is Zovirax / Acyclovir?

Zovirax, generic name Acyclovir, is an antiviral drug, which treats the infection caused by herpes - herpes simplex, herpes on lips, cold sores, shingles, genital herpes, chicken pox and others. It helps to fights herpes. It slows the growth and spread of the herpes virus so that the body can fight off the infection.

How Does Acyclovir Work?

Zovirax is delivered in a specially formulated cream containing an absorption accelerator. Once it reaches this area the active ingredient springs into action – which makes it difficult for the virus to reproduce itself. Directions and Special Indications

Aciclovir is prescribed for the treatment of the infections caused by viruses Varicella zoster (a chicken pox and surrounding herpes), and relapsing genital herpes.
